Texas Rangers Visit Arlington Police Department on National First Responders Day
Arlington, Texas – The Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation partnered with Whataburger on Wednesday afternoon to honor members of the Arlington Police and Fire Departments at the Arlington Police Department.
Rangers third basemen Josh Jung and Cody Freeman passed out burgers, water, and snacks to more than 250 members of the Arlington first responders’ community. First responders also received Texas Rangers baseball caps as part of the appreciation event.
This marks the fifth year that the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation has visited Arlington first responders on National First Responders Day to recognize the work of local police officers and firefighters in helping maintain public safety at events throughout the city, including Rangers games.
“We couldn’t have a Rangers game without hundreds of first responders, so we are thankful to them for keeping our community safe,” said Karin Morris, President of the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation. “We love coming out to the Arlington Police Department and thanking them for the work and services they provide so many of us.”
After distributing lunch, Jung and Freeman spent time with first responders, signing autographs and taking photos. Freeman tried on firefighter gear during the visit.
The event holds personal significance for Freeman, whose father spent time serving as a first responder.
“My dad was a first responder for thirty years,” Freeman said. “Today meant a lot to me… we wouldn’t be safe or be able to play without them.”
