Jeff Bagwell and Frank Thomas hit 970 homers between them before they both eventually ended up in the Hall of Fame. But a penchant for righteous dingers and a place in Cooperstown aren't the only things they share.

The two sluggers were also born on the same day, in the same year. What are the odds of that? Turns out, it's a rare thing even for Cooperstown. But it's what happened on May 27, 1968, when the future mashers entered the world.

The best baseball players born on May 27

How about that?

That's just one topic presented for your enjoyment on the latest episode of "This Week in Baseball," out now on MLB's X account.

The episode continues this season's revival of the classic series, which debuted in 1977 as a 30-minute show and ran until 1998. An initial revival followed from 2000-11 before a 15-year hiatus.

Originally hosted by Hall of Fame broadcaster Mel Allen with his signature "How about that?!" catchphrase, the original "TWIB" served as appointment viewing for millions of fans in the days before baseball highlights were readily available with just a few keystrokes.

This new version, hosted by Kait Maniscalco and airing each Friday at noon ET on MLB's X account, carries the same vibe, but with a modern flourish. It was developed by the Emmy-winning MLB Studios and is produced in collaboration with the Emmy-winning MLB Network. But just like the original version, this short-form iteration of "TWIB" exists to give fans a fast-paced and fun way to follow the latest news and happenings from around the league.

Catch highlights from the previous week, player profiles, historical flashbacks, bloopers, the iconic "TWIB Notes" and more. And, of course, stick around until the end for a closing montage set to that classic "This Week in Baseball" theme.
