Tigers radio and television play-by-play voice Dan Dickerson reads down the list of star hitters in the batting order and sees the potential for massive numbers. Where he looks for improvement, however, is further down to the youngsters.
As Dickerson prepares for his 17th season broadcasting Tigers games, and his 14th as the lead voice, he sees growth in the young players as one of the keys to the season, especially on offense.
"With good health, this is a good offense," said Dickerson. "And that national narrative of, the window is closing, maybe people stop talking about it. Because there is youth on this team. And now they have to show what they can do."
In a video discussion with MLB.com, Dickerson also talks about the young pitching, both on the staff and on the way. The collective group, he said, has a chance to expand the window.
"It's as exciting as it's been in a long time, especially when you're talking about that young pitching core. I include the guys that are right there. You start with [Matt Boyd] and [Daniel Norris], and we've seen Kevin Ziomek, who is not that hard thrower but who gets swings and misses, which you like to see. There's a young core."
