Tigers to hold annual open tryout Monday

LAKELAND, Fla. -- The Tigers will hold their annual Spring Training open tryout camp for players on Monday morning at the Tigertown Minor League complex.

The Tigers are one of the few teams left to hold open tryouts. In past years, they’ve found Minor League depth in the camp, including an eventual 40-man roster addition in outfielder Wynton Bernard.

The camp is open for players 18-23 years old, or players with previous professional experience with a Major League organization. Interested players must provide their own glove and workout equipment, and arrive ready to participate. No dressing facilities will be available. Wood bats, helmets and baseballs will be provided by the Tigers.

No pre-registration or participation fee is necessary for the camp. Registration on site begins at 8 a.m., with the tryout beginning at 9 a.m.
