Sunday start time at Fenway moved back 3 hours to 4:35 p.m. ET

BOSTON – Due to a forecast for extended rain from midday into the afternoon on Sunday, the Red Sox and Tigers will be able to have a leisurely morning.

The original 1:35 p.m. ET start time has been pushed back to 4:35 p.m.

The change was made in consultation with Major League Baseball. The 4:35 p.m. start time corresponds with a projected window of improved weather conditions later in the afternoon and provides the best opportunity to play the game on Sunday. Tickets for Sunday’s game will be good for admission at the newly scheduled time.

The time adjustment sets up a great day for Boston sports fans.

The NBA’s Boston Celtics open their playoff run at home against the Sixers at 1:10 p.m., which could give some spectators time to attend both games.

And that’s not all. The NHL’s Bruins play the first playoff game at 7:30 p.m. in Buffalo.

To cap it all off, the Sox host the Tigers for the annual Patriots Day on Monday at 11:10 a.m., the same day the Boston Marathon will be going on.

On top of mind for the 8-12 Red Sox on Sunday will be ace Garrett Crochet trying to get back on track after enduring the worst start of his career on Monday, when the lefty lasted 1 2/3 innings while allowing nine hits and 11 runs (10 earned), walking three and striking out none.

The Tigers (11-10) counter with one of their best in lefty Framber Valdez.
