Trevor Story will be placed on the injured list with a right groin issue before the Red Sox's game against the Braves on Saturday night, a source told MLB.com's Ian Browne. The club has not confirmed the news.
The 33-year-old shortstop is believed to have been dealing with the groin injury since late April. Story has played in 41 of Boston's 44 games so far this season, hitting .206 with 19 RBIs and a .547 OPS.
The veteran Story is coming off his first fully healthy season with the Red Sox, having hit .263/.308/.433 with 25 home runs and 96 RBIs in 157 games. Before that, he had played in 163 games for the club across the 2022-24 seasons after signing with Boston as a free agent in March 2022.
