CLEVELAND -- Twins right-hander Phil Hughes (right biceps injury) made a rehab outing with Triple-A Rochester on Saturday. Hughes came into the game in the seventh inning and pitched a scoreless frame. He allowed one hit, walked one and recorded one strikeout on 21 pitches.
"Phil was good," Twins manager Paul Molitor said. "Just an inning of work, and 90-92 velocity. Curveball had a good depth. I think he walked one, but he was fine."
Molitor said that Hughes will make another rehab appearance on Sunday, and then the team will decide the next step.
"We're going to see how he does [Sunday]," Molitor said. "Obviously, we have had the discussion about whether we want to keep him down there or consider when we want his return to be."
