Twins-Yanks PPD on Tues.; single-admission DH today
NEW YORK -- Tuesday’s game between the Twins and Yankees has been postponed because of inclement weather.
The game will be made up Wednesday as part of a single-admission doubleheader, which will begin at 3:05 p.m. ET. The second game will start no earlier than 7:05 p.m. If the first game ends later than 6:35 p.m., Game 2 would start approximately 30 minutes after the end of Game 1.
Domingo Germán will pitch in the first game for the Yankees, and the nightcap will be started by Gerrit Cole, who was originally slated to start on Tuesday night.
For the Twins, right-hander Louie Varland, a native of St. Paul, Minn., will make his Major League debut in the first game, while Joe Ryan will start in the second game.
Varland is ranked the 10th-best prospect in the Twins organization, according to MLB Pipeline. Before the promotion, he spent time with Triple-A St. Paul and Double-A Wichita this season and was a combined 8-5 with a 3.06 ERA and 142 strikeouts in 103 innings. Varland, who is known to throw a fastball, changeup and slider, was selected in the 15th round of the 2019 Draft.
As for Ryan, he is looking to win his 11th game of the season but will be facing the Yankees for the first time in his career. Ryan is 1-1 with a 3.57 ERA, three walks and 25 strikeouts in four starts against AL East clubs in his career.
On Wednesday, all Yankee Stadium gates will open to fans with valid tickets at 2 p.m. Tickets for Tuesday’s game will not be valid for Wednesday’s single-admission doubleheader.
Fans with paid tickets for Tuesday’s game can exchange them for tickets to a similar regular-season game at Yankee Stadium (subject to availability) as described in the Yankees’ rain check policy, which may be found at yankees.com/raincheck.
