KANSAS CITY -- Tyler Soderstrom’s 2026 season is over.
Athletics’ manager Mark Kotsay confirmed Tuesday that Soderstrom will undergo hip surgery to correct an ailment that he has been dealing with over the past several weeks.
“Soderstrom will have surgery on Friday,” Kotsay said. “It’ll be a season-ending surgery.”
The A’s had placed Soderstrom on the 10-day injured list ahead of Sunday's game against the Rangers with a left hip impingement, an issue he had been battling since coming off the IL for the same injury on July 8.
Soderstrom visited a hip specialist in Los Angeles on Monday. Prior to going on the IL, Soderstrom was on an 11-game hitting streak. The A’s had been cautious with Soderstrom’s workload by mixing in days off and using him as the designated hitter in some games while hoping he could make it to the end of the season.
