NEW YORK -- Mets right fielder Tyrone Taylor left Monday’s 7-2 loss to the Reds because of right hip pain.
The injury occurred in the bottom of the sixth inning. With one out and left-hander Nick Lodolo on the mound, Taylor hit a ground ball to third baseman Sal Stewart, who easily threw Taylor out when Taylor had a tough time running to first base. Taylor then went into the dugout and was out of the game.
“He felt something there. He is going to get an MRI tomorrow, and we’ll see what we are dealing with,” manager Carlos Mendoza said. “He’s probably going to be on the [injured list].”
Taylor, who has made starts at all three outfield spots this year, is hitting .186 with three home runs, 14 RBIs and a .530 OPS. He went on the 10-day injured list late last season because of a left hamstring strain.
