KC's offense will be 'banging' in '24 if Pasquantino has anything to say about it

The Royals have big expectations for the upcoming season. But how will they reach such goals? Their first baseman, Vinnie Pasquantino, has an idea, which he shared during an interview with MLB Network Radio.

"Well I think, politically, we're going to pitch, we're going to play good defense, we're gonna baserun well," Pasquantino said. "Personally, privately -- I plan on this team banging at the plate.

"We're gonna score some runs. That's my plan."

Banging at the plate does seem to be a recipe for success. One just needs to look at the 2023 Braves, who posted an MLB-high 104 wins while also leading the Majors in home runs (307), runs scored (947) and OPS (.845).

Pasquantino, who’s happy to be healthy after his season ended in June last year because of right shoulder surgery, also discussed two free-agent additions Kansas City made over the offseason.

On Seth Lugo: "Lugo's got nine pitches, I think.”

Per his Baseball Savant page – and we’re not doubting Pasquantino here – it appears to actually be six.

On Michael Wacha: “Wacha’s got six different changeups.”

We're just going to trust Vinnie on that one.
