Washington Nationals announce Spring Training roster

The Washington Nationals announced their 2026 Spring Training roster, including non-roster invitees, on Monday. The complete Spring Training roster can be found here. Nationals President of Baseball Operations Paul Toboni made the announcement.

Baum, 28, was selected in the second round of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft by the Oakland Athletics. In six professional seasons, he’s posted 10.73 strikeouts per 9.0 innings and 0.96 home runs per 9.0 innings. Baum spent the majority of the 2025 season with Double-A Midland, going 1-1 with a 3.80 ERA and 25 strikeouts in 21.1 innings.

Gott, 33, pitched for the Nationals from 2016-18, appearing in 33 games across the three seasons. The 2025 season marked his return to the mound after rehabbing Tommy John surgery in March 2024. He appeared in 24 games between the Arizona Complex League Mariners and Triple-A Tacoma, going 3-3 with a 7.40 ERA in 20.2 innings.

Lara, 23, made his Major League debut with the Nationals on July 2, 2025 vs. Detroit, tossing 3.0 scoreless innings with four strikeouts. He appeared in nine games across four Major League stints in 2025. In five professional seasons in Washington’s system, Lara is 24-39 with a 4.89 ERA in 104 games (83 starts).

Montes De Oca, 29, pitched in the New York Mets organization for eight seasons after being selected in the ninth round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Missouri. He made his Major League debut in 2022, appearing in three games during the month of September. He missed the 2025 season while recovering from August 2024 Tommy John surgery.

Susana, 21, enters the season as the No. 2 prospect in Washington’s system and the No. 68 prospect in baseball, according to Baseball America. He ranks third in Minor League Baseball (min. 200.0 IP) in strikeouts per 9.0 innings (12.67) and eighth in home runs per 9.0 innings (0.32) over the last three seasons. In 2025, he struck out 95 batters in 56.1 innings and pitched to a 3.51 ERA in 14 starts between Double-A Harrisburg and High-A Wilmington. Susana underwent right lat surgery in mid-September.

Sykora, 21, is Washington’s No. 6 prospect and the owner of the “Best Slider” in Washington’s system, per Baseball America. He moved swiftly through the Nationals organization in 2025, going 3-1 with a 1.79 ERA, 79 strikeouts, 15.68 strikeouts per 9.0 innings in 12 starts before being placed on the Injured List on July 29. Sykora underwent Tommy John surgery in late August 2025, ending his season.

Yean, 24, returns to the organization that signed him as an international free agent on July 2, 2017. He was traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for Josh Bell on Dec. 24, 2020. He went 8-5 with seven saves and a 3.06 ERA in 50 games (four starts) for Triple-A Indianapolis in 2025.

Ogasawara, 28, advanced through Washington's Minor League system in 2025, eventually making his Major League debut on July 6 vs. Boston. He made one more start on July 12 at Milwaukee before being optioned to Triple-A Rochester. Ogasawara returned on Aug. 1 for the remainder of the season and made 21 appearances as a reliever (1-0, 6.47 ERA in 32.0 IP).

Penrod, 28, looks to return to the big leagues for the first time since 2024 when he made his Major League debut as a member of the Boston Red Sox, appearing in seven games and pitching to a 2.25 ERA. He opened the 2025 season in Boston's system with Triple-A Worchester before being acquired by Los Angeles (NL) and reporting to Triple-A Oklahoma City on June 20. He went 2-1 with an 8.07 ERA in 25 games (five starts) between the two stops.

Adams, 29, played in a career-high of 83 games in 2025, throwing out a career-best 15 would-be base stealers. He ranked second among MLB catchers with an average throw of 84.2 MPH. Adams hit .283 with four doubles, five home runs, 12 RBI, 11 walks, a stolen base and 15 runs scored in 31 games from July 11 to Aug. 26, including safely in seven-straight games from Aug. 3-12.

Barrera, 31, returns to the organization that drafted him and brought him to the Major Leagues. He made his debut with the club in 2019 and was rated as the “Best Defensive Catcher” in Washington’s Minor League system, from 2019-22, according to Baseball America. He spent the 2025 season in the Tampa Bay organization, hitting .209 with five doubles, eight homers, 33 RBI, 26 walks, one stolen base and 25 runs scored in 70 games between Double-A Montgomery and Triple-A Durham.

Lomavita, 23, embarks on his second Major League Spring Training in his third professional season. He was a Competitive Balance-A selection (39th overall) in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft. Lomavita enjoyed a strong 2025 season, hitting .275 with 17 doubles, two triples, six homers, 47 RBI, 23 walks, seven stolen bases and 35 runs scored in 108 games between High-A Wilmington and Double-A Harrisburg.

Alcantara, 29, has appeared in 193 Major League games across five seasons with the San Francisco Giants (2025), San Diego Padres (2022), Arizona Diamondbacks (2022), Chicago Cubs (2021) and Detroit Tigers (2020). He’s hit .207/.378/.340 with 14 doubles, five triples, 12 home runs, 47 RBI, 44 walks, four stolen bases and 58 runs scored in his Major League career. Alcantara has the ability to play shortstop (84 G), second base (53 G) and third base (51 G) and has appeared as a designated hitter three times and pitched once.

Bernabel, 23, made his Major League debut with the Colorado Rockies in 2025, hitting .252 with eight doubles, a triple, four home runs, 14 RBI, seven walks and 15 runs scored in 40 games. He slashed .311/.340/.544 through his first 24 career games through Aug. 20 and was named the National League Player of the Week for July 28-Aug. 3.

King, 22, is Washington’s No. 8 prospect and the “Best Defensive Infielder” in Washington’s system, according to Baseball America. He is coming off an Arizona Fall League season in which he hit .359 with a .468 on-base percentage and a .563 slugging percentage in 18 games. Washington’s first-round pick (No. 10 overall) in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft, King was Washington’s 2025 Baserunner of the Year. He hit .244 with 19 doubles, five triples, six home runs, 43 RBI, 32 walks, 30 stolen bases and 65 runs scored in 125 games between High-A Wilmington and Double-A Harrisburg.

Lipscomb, 25, appeared in three games for the Nationals in 2025, going 2-for-4 with a run scored. He ranked fifth in Washington’s system with 65 RBI while hitting .249 with 29 doubles, one triple, 11 homers, 35 walks, 12 stolen bases and 53 runs scored in 122 games with Triple-A Rochester.

Martinez, 24, signed with Washington on Sept. 24, 2025 after appearing in 99 games in 2025 for Triple-A Buffalo in Toronto’s system. He made his Major League debut in 2024, appearing in one game on June 21 at Cleveland. A former top 100 prospect, Martinez rose to as high as the No. 2 prospect in Toronto’s Minor League system in 2024. Martinez has appeared at shortstop (194 G), second base (143 G) and third base (138 G) throughout his Minor League career.

Mervis, 27, is a Washington, D.C. area and graduate of Georgetown Prep who made his Major League debut in 2023 with the Chicago Cubs. After four seasons their organization, he spent the 2025 campaign in the Miami Marlins and Arizona Diamondbacks systems. He hit a career-high seven home runs - all during the month of April – for the Marlins last season. In total, he combined to hit 26 home runs between Miami, Triple-A Jacksonville and Triple-A Reno.

Morales, 24, will take part in his second Major League Spring Training in 2026. He is coming off a Winter League season in which he hit .413 (45-for-109) with a .471 on-base percentage and a .706 slugging percentage with 10 doubles, five triples, four homers, 17 RBI, eight walks and 19 runs scored in 27 games between the Puerto Rican Winter League and the Caribbean Series. He was named the Puerto Rican Winter League Finals MVP. Morales ranked among Nationals Minor Leaguers in doubles (1st, 31), RBI (2nd, 71), hits (2nd, 135), extra-base hits (2nd, 50), homers (3rd, 15), slugging percentage (3rd, .430) and OPS (4th, .769) in 2025.

Wallace, 24, hit .242 with 21 doubles, three triples, 10 homers, 55 RBI, 40 walks, 16 stolen bases and 49 runs scored in 121 games for Double-A Harrisburg in 2025. It was his first full season in Washington’s system after being acquired in July 2024.

Glasser, 26, was Washington's 2025 Minor League Hitter of the Year will take part in his first Major League Spring Training in 2026. His .301 career batting average ranks 11th in all of Minor League Baseball - and best in Washington's system - since the start of the 2023 season (min. 1,000 PA). In 2025, he led Washington’s Minor League system in average (.302), on-base percentage (.389) and hits (143) and ranked in OPS (2nd, .793), walks (2nd, 60), stolen bases (T3rd, 32), runs (4th, 71) total bases (5th, 191) and slugging percentage (5th, .404).

Pinckney, 25, is the “Best Power Hitter” and has the “Best Outfield Arm” in Washington’s system, according to Baseball America. He set career marks in nearly every offensive category in 2025 and ranked in the top five among all Nationals farmhands in several offensive categories, including home runs (2nd, 20), on-base percentage (2nd, .348), stolen bases (2nd, 34), slugging percentage (2nd, .431), OPS (3rd, .779), runs (3rd, 77), RBI (4th, 66), average (4th, .269) and total bases (4th, 194).
