Washington Nationals recall Dylan Crews and Andrés Chaparro

The Washington Nationals recalled outfielder Dylan Crews and first baseman/designated hitter Andrés Chaparro from Triple-A Rochester and optioned outfielder Joey Wiemer to Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday. The Nationals also optioned third baseman Brady House to Triple-A Rochester on Monday. Nationals President of Baseball Operations Paul Toboni made the announcements.

Crews, 24, joins the Nationals after hitting .308 (20-for-68) with seven doubles, one triple, three home runs, 11 RBI, six walks, two stolen bases and 15 runs scored in his last 17 games with Triple-A Rochester. He hit safely in 15 of the 17 games and posted a .366 on-base percentage and a .585 slugging percentage. He went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored in his final game with Rochester, May 17 vs. Lehigh Valley.

Crews ranked tied for third in Washington’s Minor League system with 10 doubles, while his 40 hits and 16 extra-base hits were tied for seventh. In 41 games for the Red Wings, he hit .258 with a .345 on-base percentage and a .432 slugging percentage while recording 10 doubles, one triple, five home runs, 20 RBI, 29 walks, seven stolen bases and 30 runs scored. He hit .357 (10-for-28) with three doubles and one homer against left-handed pitching.

The No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 First-Year Player Draft, Crews finished tied for second among National League rookies with 17 stolen bases and tied for fifth with 10 home runs despite playing in just 85 games in 2025. He led National League rookies with seven home runs prior to missing 71 games with a left oblique strain.

Chaparro, 27, returns to the Nationals for his third Major League stint of the season. He hit .260 with eight doubles, six home runs, 24 RBI, 14 walks and 22 runs scored in 35 games with Triple-A Rochester. In his last two games with the Red Wings, Chaparro went 6-for-10 (.600) with three doubles, one homer, six RBI and three runs scored on May 16 and 17 vs. Lehigh Valley.
