LeBron is searching for his next team ... why not try baseball?

Since the landmark news on Tuesday that 41-year-old LeBron James will be leaving the Los Angeles Lakers and searching for his next team this offseason, well, seemingly everyone has put in their bid to be a part of “The Decision,” Part II.

Even at his age, “The King” hasn’t lost his step. But what if -- instead of a new NBA squad -- he followed in the footsteps of fellow NBA legend Michael Jordan and took some time to play professional baseball?

It’s safe to say teams would be lining up to bring what would be a marquee attraction to their ballpark. In fact, a ton of Minor League clubs joined an ongoing social media trend of photoshopping James into their uniform. And there were even at least two teams that indicated they wouldn’t want James’ services?!

Let’s take a look at some of the best baseball-related reactions to LeBron’s impending change in scenery.

Akron RubberDucks (Guardians’ Double-A)

After all, if James was going to change sports, why wouldn’t he want to do so back home? The RubberDucks should be the favorite here, if such a thing existed. He may command more than $7.17 to play, though …

Lake Elsinore Storm (Padres’ Single-A)

Props to the Storm for not only joining in on the LeBron trend but also bringing the LeBron-vs.-Jordan debate into full view. At least James wouldn’t have to move far from his current home to play with Lake Elsinore.

Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (Marlins’ Triple-A)

Hey, this wouldn’t be the first time James took his talent to Florida.

Somerset Patriots (Yankees Double-A)

The NBA often sees 10-day contracts for players trying to make an impact on a roster, but maybe the Minor Leagues can get a one-day deal done for The King to play for the Patriots, on the Fourth of July?

Lakeshore Chinooks - Northwoods League

Maybe LeBron will need a bit of time to develop in his new sport. Luckily, the amateur ranks are ready to welcome him with open arms, too.

Marlins

The Marlins’ social media admin knows their online trends with this “Hey ‘Bron, we’re good” reference. And you know what? Maybe they really are OK without him. The Fish just went 20-6 in June.

Eugene Emeralds (Giants’ High-A)

James made waves with his first “The Decision,” joining the Miami Heat and forming what is now known as one of the best “Big Three” groups basketball has seen -- featuring Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and James.

But the Eugene Emeralds are confident enough in their own Big Three, comprised of prospects Jhonny Level, Gavin Kilen and Dakota Jordan. They don’t feel the need to add James to the fold.
