Everything you need to know about Opening Day 2026

It's almost time for two of the best words in baseball: Opening Day!

The curtain will rise on the 2026 regular season on March 25 with a special Opening Night showdown between the Yankees and Giants. MLB's 28 other teams will play their first game of the season at some point over the following two days.

Here is everything you need to know for the beginning of the season.

When does the 2026 regular season begin?

The Giants will host the Yankees on Wednesday, March 25 as part of MLB Opening Night. This standalone game between two historic franchises will air on Netflix, marking the streaming service's first regular-season big league game. Netflix will also broadcast MLB's Opening Night game for the 2027 and '28 seasons.

First pitch for the 2026 Opening Night game at Oracle Park is scheduled for 8:05 p.m. ET.

When will it be Opening Day for every team?

Once we get past Opening Night, Opening Day baseball will continue over the next two days for the other 28 Major League clubs.

Twenty-two teams will begin their season on Thursday, March 26. That 11-game slate is highlighted by Tarik Skubal and the Tigers visiting the Padres, and the Dodgers starting their quest for a three-peat at home versus the D-backs. That D-backs-Dodgers game will air on NBC at 8:30 p.m. ET.

Six more teams -- the Athletics, Blue Jays, Braves, Marlins, Rockies and Royals -- will play their Opening Day game on Friday, March 27.

Saturday, March 28 is the first day on the schedule when all 30 teams will be in action.
