Following the club’s fourth consecutive trip to the postseason, several Phillies were rewarded for their part in a 96-win regular season, a National League East crown and a first-round bye to the NL Division Series.

Those honors included two players who finished in the top five of MVP voting, three pitchers who earned Cy Young votes, a closer whose work following the Trade Deadline solidified his spot on the All-MLB first team and a manager recognized for his second straight division title.

Here’s a look at the Phillies whose contributions during the 2025 season earned them appreciation in awards season.

Kyle Schwarber
2nd in NL MVP; 2nd-team All-MLB at DH

Schwarber, who received 23 second-place votes for MVP and was in the top five on all 30 ballots, had a season that might just have earned him the award in a different year – or in a universe without Shohei Ohtani. In the final season of a four-year contract he signed with the Phillies in 2022, Schwarber mashed a career-high and NL-best 56 home runs while leading baseball with 132 RBIs. The 32-year-old received MVP votes for the fourth straight season but had never previously finished higher than 15th.

Trea Turner
5th in NL MVP

Turner had arguably the best of his three seasons with the Phillies so far, winning his second career batting title with a .304 average – he was the only NL qualifier to bat better than .300. The 32-year-old boasts 100th-percentile sprint speed, which he used to steal 36 bases, his highest total since he stole 43 with the Nationals in 2018. Turner remains stellar at shortstop, with 17 outs above average in 2025. Turner tied his highest MVP finish – he also finished fifth in 2021 in a season split between Washington and the Dodgers.

Jhoan Duran
1st-team All-MLB at RP

Duran was a first-team selection alongside Boston’s Aroldis Chapman after notching a career-high 32 saves. The first 16 of those came with the Twins in 49 appearances; then Duran picked up the next 16 in just 20 2/3 innings with the Phillies following a Deadline deal. For the season, Duran had a 2.06 ERA with 80 strikeouts in 70 innings. After issuing 18 walks in 49 1/3 innings with Minnesota, Duran walked just one batter with the Phillies while striking out 27.

Cristopher Sánchez
2nd in NL CYA; 15th in NL MVP; 2nd-team All-MLB at SP

After a fantastic 2024 season in which he finished 10th in Cy Young voting, Sánchez took his game – and the Phillies’ pitching staff – to a new level in 2025. The 28-year-old Sánchez established career-highs with 32 starts, 13 wins, 202 innings, 212 strikeouts and 8.0 bWAR as the Phillies led the NL with a 3.53 ERA from their starting pitchers. Sánchez saved his best for last, with a 1.65 ERA in September, during which he allowed six runs, 22 hits and three walks in 32 2/3 innings.

Jesús Luzardo
7th in NL CYA

Like Sánchez, Luzardo also established several career highs in 2025, including 15 wins and 216 strikeouts, the second time the 28-year-old left-hander had topped 200. Luzardo’s career-best 183 2/3 innings helped Phillies starters lead baseball with 929 2/3 innings, more than 40 innings better than second-place Cleveland. Luzardo was inconsistent in the middle portion of the season, raising his ERA from 1.95 to 4.58 between early May and late July, but he carried a 3.16 ERA over his final 10 starts.

Zack Wheeler
9th in NL CYA; 2nd-team All-MLB at SP

Wheeler was diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome and was sidelined for the season in late August, but he still managed to turn in another great season in an 11-year career full of them. His 11.7 strikeouts per nine innings were a career best, as was his 5.9 strikeout-to-walk ratio. He surrendered 6.4 hits per nine innings, just below 2024’s 6.3, and his 0.935 WHIP was a career best. The 35-year-old Wheeler struck out 195 in 149 2/3 innings before turning his attention to a likely long injury recovery.

Rob Thomson
3rd in NL MOY

Thomson, in his third full season as Phillies manager, ranked among the top five in Manager of the Year voting for the third time. Thomson finished fifth in 2024 and in 2022, when he took over for Joe Girardi and went 65-46 in the regular season before guiding the Phillies to the NL pennant. Thomson’s third-place finish was the highest for a Philadelphia manager since Charlie Manuel finished second in 2007 and 2008. Thomson has led the Phillies to the playoffs in each of the past four seasons.
