White Sox announce spring broadcast sked

CHICAGO -- Brian Anderson was attempting an on-field comeback at age 32 when he was last seen with the White Sox at Camelback Ranch during Spring Training, '15.
The one-time slick-fielding outfielder and contributor to the 2005 World Series championship will be back in camp this Spring Training, only as a broadcaster. Anderson will be serving as analyst for five free webcasts on whitesox.com, joining Russ Langer, who returns for his fifth spring as the webcast's play-by-play man.

Anderson, who also works for Vantari Genetics, hopes this Cactus League foray turns into more consistent work behind the microphone.
"I would love for that to lead to something more permanent in the future," Anderson said. "I think I'll do a good job.
"It's crazy, but as little as it might seem to others, my experience on the mound will really help me diversify my analyst capabilities in the booth. I'm able to see it from both ends."
Although he made the '15 comeback as an outfielder, Anderson also pitched in the Minors for the Royals and the Yankees. He filled in as a pregame and postgame analyst for Comcast SportsNet last season and filled in for Steve Stone, working with Ken "Hawk'' Harrelson, during one series in Detroit.
Ten White Sox Cactus League games will be televised from Arizona, along with the webcasts, with nine on Comcast and one on WGN-TV. WLS-AM, the club's new flagship radio station, will air 14 games, including both exhibition games against the Padres at Petco Park on April 1-2. Stone and Jason Benetti will work all 10 television games in their first Spring Training together as the White Sox broadcast team. Benetti is set to begin his first season with the White Sox, while Stone enters his ninth year with the club. Harrelson, who will do road games and selected home games in the regular season, said recently he didn't plan to be at Spring Training this season, viewing the team fresh like many other fans at the outset in Oakland.

A 2:05 p.m. CT contest against the Cubs on March 12 in Mesa will be the first broadcast game and the only game televised by WGN. Comcast's first game will be March 18, with the Cubs traveling to Camelback Ranch.
WLS-AM broadcasts the first of its 14 on Thursday, March 3 against the Dodgers at 2:05 p.m. with Ed Farmer and Darrin Jackson back together. Farmer is entering his 25th season in the radio booth, while Jackson will begin his 17th year as a White Sox broadcaster.
There will be 10 Spring Training webcasts in total, beginning with that same Cactus League opener on March 3.
"I enjoy doing TV stuff even though I have a face for radio," said Anderson, whose Minor League comeback ended due to a torn quad.
