Prior to Monday's series opener vs. Cleveland, the Chicago White Sox returned catcher Kyle Teel from his injury rehabilitation assignment at Triple-A Charlotte, reinstated him from the 60-day injured list and optioned catcher Edgar Quero to Charlotte.

Teel, 24, has not played this season after suffering a right hamstring strain during Team Italy’s World Baseball Classic game on March 10 against the United States. He sustained a sprained lateral collateral ligament in his right knee on May 16 during his first rehab stint with Charlotte and was transferred to the 60-day injured list on May 19. Teel played in four games with the Knights on his second rehab stint, going 8-16 (.500) with one home run, four RBIs and five runs scored, including a five-hit effort on Friday at Buffalo.

The White Sox could surely use Teel back in the lineup to help bolster their standing in the American League Central. Chicago (39-37) is one game back of the Guardians (41-37) for first place.

Teel, 5-foot-11 and 210 pounds, batted .273/.375/.411 (69-253) with 11 doubles, eight home runs, 35 RBI, 38 runs scored and 37 walks in 78 games as a rookie in 2025, his first season in the White Sox organization. He slashed .288/.376/.457 (53-184) with eight homers and 29 RBI in 53 games after the All-Star Break, leading the team in average and on-base percentage.

Teel was acquired from Boston on Dec. 11, 2024, with infielder Chase Meidroth, outfielder Braden Montgomery and right-handed pitcher Wikelman González in exchange for left-hander Garrett Crochet. Teel, Meidroth and Braden Montgomery are scheduled to be in the same starting lineup tonight against the Guardians.

Quero, 23, is hitting .187/.253/.233 (28-150) with two home runs, 15 RBI and 12 runs scored in 55 games this season, his second in the major leagues.

The White Sox 40-man roster increases to 40.
