Fulmer looks to spin another stellar start

Here's a look at top prospects to watch in today's Minor League action:
Pitcher to watch:Carson Fulmer (White Sox's No. 5), Charlotte vs. Gwinnett (2:05 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Fulmer, MLB's No. 64 prospect, has impressed at Triple-A early this season after a rocky debut stint in the big leagues in 2016, when he posted an 8.49 ERA in eight relief appearances. In five starts for Charlotte this year, the 23-year-old right-hander, whom the White Sox drafted eighth overall in 2015, has gone 3-1 with a 3.18 ERA. That includes a 5 1/3-inning, two-hit, one-run effort against Norfolk his last time out.

Hitter to watch:Gleyber Torres (Yankees' No. 1), Trenton at Erie (12:05 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Torres will play two on Sunday after Double-A Trenton was rained out Saturday night. The No. 2 overall prospect in baseball is hitting .297/.392/.438 with a home run and eight RBIs in 17 games with the Thunder this season. Torres has beaten up on the Erie team he'll be facing -- in his last three games against the SeaWolves, the 20-year-old shortstop is 6-for-12 with his one home run, a double, four RBIs and three runs scored.

Duel of the day:Cody Reed (D-backs' No. 19 ) vs. Gregory Soto (Tigers' No. 30 ), Kane County at West Michigan (1 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Sunday's matchup between Reed and Soto pits two pitchers against each other who have been lights-out at Class A so far this season. On the D-backs' side, Reed is 1-0 with a 1.35 ERA in his four starts for Kane County. He's struck out 27 batters in 20 innings, and opponents have hit just .162 against him. His last outing was his best yet -- Reed threw six no-hit innings and struck out a career-high-tying 11 batters.
But opposing him will be a pitcher who has yet to allow an earned run this year. In four starts in 2017, Soto is 2-0 with an unblemished ERA, and he's fanned 21 batters in 22 innings with a .135 batting average against him. The Tigers prospect has won both of his last two starts, in which he's gone 11 innings allowing just a single unearned run and striking out 12.
