Burger among 8 White Sox sent to Minors

The White Sox announced a flurry of roster moves Tuesday, optioning right-hander Thyago Vieira and outfielder Charlie Tilson to Triple-A Charlotte and right-hander José Ruiz to Class A Winston-Salem.
The club also reassigned infielder Jake Burger, right-handers Dylan Covey and Michael Ynoa, catcher Alfredo González and left-hander Jordan Guerrero to Minor League camp.
Burger, Chicago's first-round selection in 2017, ruptured his left Achilles tendon on Feb. 26, and he is expected to miss the entire '18 season. He is ranked as the eighth-best prospect in Chicago's farm system.

Vieira, 24, was acquired from the Mariners in November. He went 2-3 with a 3.72 ERA in 29 games with Double-A Arkansas last season before going 0-1 with a 4.58 ERA in 12 appearances for Triple-A Tacoma. He is the No. 29 prosect in the system.
Tilson, 25, batted .188/.325/.250 with two doubles and four RBIs in nine games for Glendale in the Arizona Fall League last season after missing most of the year with a right foot injury. He is Chicago's No. 16 prospect.
Covey, 26, went 0-7 with a 7.71 ERA in 18 games (12 starts) for the White Sox last season, while Ynoa, 26, is 2-0 with a 4.42 ERA in 59 innings for Chicago over the past two seasons.
