World Series champion Eric Hosmer joins MLB Network as an on-air analyst
March 12, 2026 – MLB Network today announced that World Series champion and four-time Gold Glove Award-winning first baseman Eric Hosmer has joined MLB Network as an on-air analyst appearing across its studio programming. Hosmer, who retired from the game in January 2024 following a 13-season career, will make his season debut on Wednesday, March 25th on the Emmy Award-nominated MLB Central (10 a.m. ET) and the Emmy Award-nominated MLB Now (12 p.m. ET), leading up to MLB’s Opening Night.
“I’m excited to join the MLB Network family,” said Hosmer. “Baseball has been such a huge part of my life for a long time, and joining the Network gives me the opportunity to stay connected to it in a new way. I'm looking forward to breaking down the game and sharing a player’s perspective on what it takes to compete at the highest level.”
“Eric Hosmer’s playing career speaks for itself with his championship résumé, and he was always a fan favorite of ours, showing a deep understanding of the game in his interviews,” said MLB Network Senior Vice President of Production Marc Caiafa. “During his time with us as a guest analyst last season, he always added to the conversation — whether breaking down his approach at the plate or sharing insight into the personalities of today’s game. As we prepare for a new season, we’re excited to welcome Eric to MLB Network and know his presence will help bring fans even closer to the game.”
Following his playing career, Hosmer served as a guest analyst on MLB Network in 2025 and contributed to the pre- and postgame coverage of Friday Night Baseball on Apple TV, which he will again continue this season. Hosmer will also be part of the broadcast coverage for the Royals.TV in 2026. Viewers can follow Hosmer on X via @TheRealHoz305.
Hosmer's career began when he was selected third overall in the 2008 MLB June Amateur Draft by the Kansas City Royals, where he would spend the first seven seasons of his 13-year MLB career. A cornerstone of the Royals’ resurgence in the mid-2010s, Hosmer was a four-time Gold Glove Award winner (2013-15, 2017), an MLB All-Star and All-Star Game MVP in 2016 and a key contributor to Kansas City’s 2015 World Series championship. The left-handed-hitting first baseman played five seasons with the San Diego Padres (2018-22), followed by stints with the Boston Red Sox in 2022 and the Chicago Cubs in 2023. Over his career, Hosmer recorded 1,753 hits, 893 RBI, 198 home runs and 76 stolen bases across 1,689 career games.
