Spring Training is fast approaching! Here's what you need to know

NEW YORK -- Aaron Boone was in his Yankee Stadium office in mid-January when pitching coach Matt Blake barged in with news that sent a ripple through the clubhouse.

“Cody’s back,” Blake said, holding up his phone as confirmation of Cody Bellinger’s six-year, $162.5 million contract.

After tying for the American League lead with 94 wins but falling short of a second straight pennant, the Yankees will soon reconvene at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, aiming to prove that a largely familiar roster can deliver a different ending in 2026.

When is the first workout for pitchers and catchers?
Yankees pitchers and catchers report to Tampa on Feb. 11. Their first workout at Steinbrenner Field is scheduled for Feb. 12.

What is the date of the first full-squad workout?
Position players report on Feb. 15. The first full-squad workout is scheduled for Feb. 16 at Steinbrenner Field.

Where is the team’s facility?
Steinbrenner Field is located at 1 Steinbrenner Drive in Tampa, adjacent to Raymond James Stadium, home of the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Can fans attend workouts?
Yes! Admission and parking are free for team workouts at Steinbrenner Field.

Who are some new faces fans should know?
Left-hander Ryan Weathers, acquired from the Marlins in January, is expected to help bridge the rotation while Carlos Rodón and Gerrit Cole continue their injury rehabs.

Right-hander Cade Winquest, a Rule 5 selection from the Cardinals, will compete for a bullpen spot alongside Angel Chivilli, a hard-throwing righty acquired from the Rockies. Dom Hamel could also factor into that mix.

Who are some of the top prospects invited to Major League camp?
The Yankees have not officially announced their Spring Training roster, but several of the organization’s top prospects are expected to be in uniform.

Infielder George Lombard Jr. (No. 1 prospect) will return for a second spring in big league camp after impressing last year, while right-hander Elmer Rodríguez (No. 3) was added to the 40-man roster and will be looking to make his Major League debut at some point this season.

Keep an eye out for flame-throwing righty Carlos Lagrange (No. 2), too. Outfielder Spencer Jones (No. 4) is looking to continue his development after belting 35 homers in the Minors last season, though his path to playing time was complicated when Bellinger and Trent Grisham returned.

When is the team’s first Grapefruit League game?
The Yankees are set to open their spring slate on the road, visiting the Orioles in Sarasota, Fla., on Feb. 20 at 1:05 p.m. ET. The home opener is Feb. 21 against the Tigers, also a 1:05 p.m. ET scheduled start.

What are a few other notable spring games?
Subway Series hype begins early this year, as the Mets visit Steinbrenner Field on Feb. 22, then the Yanks travel to Port St. Lucie, Fla., on March 8. Team Panama visits on March 3 for a World Baseball Classic tuneup.

The Yankees host all of their American League East rivals throughout the spring: Blue Jays (Feb. 28, March 11), Orioles (March 19, March 20), Rays (March 6) and Red Sox (March 18).

What is Spring Breakout and when is the game?
MLB Spring Breakout is a four-day event showcasing baseball’s future, the current stars of Minor League Baseball. The Yankees’ Spring Breakout game will be played under the lights at Steinbrenner Field on March 21 against a team of top Braves prospects.

Will the team’s games be televised?
The Yankees will have 25 spring games televised, with 12 airing on YES Network and 13 available exclusively on the Gotham Sports app. All YES Network games are also available on the Gotham Sports app.

When is the club’s last game in Florida?
The Yanks wrap their Grapefruit League schedule on March 22 vs. the Phillies at 1:05 p.m. ET.

Will there be any additional exhibitions before the regular season?
For the first time in 75 years, the Yankees will play spring exhibitions in Arizona, visiting the Cubs in Mesa, Ariz., on March 23 and March 24 (3:05 p.m. ET).

It marks the club’s first spring games in the state since 1951, when the Yankees temporarily swapped training sites with the New York Giants.

What are the details for Opening Day?
The Yankees open the 2026 Major League season on the road, visiting the Giants for a standalone Opening Night contest at 8:05 p.m. ET on March 25 in San Francisco.
