The Rule 5 Draft serves as the official conclusion of the Winter Meetings, a final chance for baseball’s decision-makers to gather in one room and take a swing at unprotected talent before heading home.

How the Rule 5 Draft works

It has been more than a decade since the Yankees last made a selection in the Major League phase. The format and eligibility rules have changed over the years, but here are the players the Yankees have added since the process became an offseason staple.

History of the Rule 5 Draft

His Yankees stay was brief, claimed on waivers by the Royals the following March. He last pitched professionally in 2016.
