BALTIMORE -- Didi Gregorius had precautionary X-rays, which were negative, after being hit on the left hand by a pitch in the Yankees' 8-3 victory over the Orioles on Tuesday night.
Gregorius said that he expected to feel some soreness overnight after being drilled in the ninth inning by an 88.4-mph sinker from left-hander Richard Bleier. The shortstop said that he was relieved that the injury was not more serious.
"You don't want to get hit by a pitch," Gregorius said. "Of course when it hits you, it's painful, but I'm just happy there was nothing fractured. It's good."
Gregorius went 1-for-4 with a run scored on Tuesday, and he said that he expects to play in Wednesday's series finale. Gregorius is batting .307/.336/.439 with three home runs and 18 RBIs in 29 games this year.
