Salem's stars: Moncada, Benintendi pace Sox

Boston's dynamic prospect duo of Yoan Moncada and Andrew Benintendi was at it again on Wednesday as Class A Advanced Salem rolled past Carolina, 9-2, to extend its winning streak to seven games.
A day removed from hitting his first career grand slam (and first home run of the season), Moncada, the Red Sox's No. 1 prospect and No. 5 on the Top 100, went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three runs scored out of the leadoff spot for Salem. He also stole his 19th base of the season and is second in the Minors in steals.

The 20-year-old second baseman is tearing up the Carolina League in his second pro season, hitting .348 with a circuit-best .478 on-base percentage and a Minor League-leading 29 runs scored, 14 of which he's accrued during Salem's current winning streak.
Benintendi set a club record Tuesday when he extended his hitting streak to 20 games in game one of Salem's double-header. The No. 22 overall prospect made it 21 in the nightcap and then extended it on Wednesday, when he went 2-for-4 with his league-leading seventh triple as well as a pair of RBIs. The 21-year-old outfielder has 20 runs scored and 22 RBIs during his 22-game streak, which is one shy of the Salem franchise record.
Benintendi has put up monstrous numbers to begin first full pro season, with a Carolina League-leading 1.088 OPS and 19 extra-base hits in 25 games. He also ranks second in average (.376), hits (38), doubles (11), slugging (.653), RBIs (25) and first in total bases (66).
