A's recall IF Olson from Nashville; Option RHP Valdez to Nashville

The Oakland A's recalled infielder Matt Olson from Triple-A Nashville and optioned right-handed pitcher César Valdez to Triple-A Nashville, the club announced today.
Olson was batting .216 with two home runs and four RBI in 14 games with the Sounds. He also walked eight times for a .322 on-base percentage. The 23-year-old left-handed hitter appeared in 13 games at first base and one at third base. Olson made his Major League debut with Oakland last year as a September call-up and went 2-for-21 (.095) in 11 games.
Valdez was recalled from Nashville yesterday and started against the Mariners last night. He had a no decision after allowing three runs on five hits in 4.0 innings in his first Major League appearance since 2010. Valdez is 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA in two starts with Nashville.
