ANGELS ACQUIRE INF ANGEL ARREDONDO FROM TEXAS

ANAHEIM – The Angels today acquired minor league INF Angel Arredondo from the Texas Rangers in exchange for C Logan O’Hoppe and RHP Chase Silseth.

Arredondo, 19, has batted .247 (74/300) with 15 doubles, three triples, eight home runs, 47 RBI and a .769 OPS in 86 games this season for Single-A Hickory. He has appeared primarily at third base for the Crawdads, posting a .987 fielding percentage (two errors in 154 total chances) in 74 games at the position. Additionally, he has 16 multi-hit games, including 30 total hits in 24 games in June, and his 80.0% contact rate ranks fourth in the Carolina League.

A native of Guaymas, Mexico, Arredondo played in the Mexican League at age 16 where he totaled 36 games for the Diablos Rojos del Mexico. He was signed by the Texas Rangers as an international free agent on Jan. 15, 2024 and made his professional debut that summer in the Arizona Complex League. Last season, he led the ACL Rangers in walks (25) and OBP (.440) and had a team-high 17-game on-base streak.

Silseth, 26, has pitched in 47 games for the Angels in relief this season, going 3-2 with a 2.72 ERA (39.2 IP – 12 ER) and 48 strikeouts. In his five seasons with the Angels, he has gone 8-7 with a 4.12 ERA (139.2 IP – 64 ER) and 153 strikeouts in 82 games (17 starts). He was originally selected by the Angels in the 11th round of the 2021 Draft.

O’Hoppe, 26, appeared in 75 games for the Angels this season, batting .209 (49/234) with four home runs and 23 RBI. He totaled 386 games across five seasons with the Angels, hitting .227 (303/1332) with 57 HR and 153 RBI. Originally drafted by Philadelphia in 2018, he was acquired by the Angels from the Phillies on Aug. 2, 2022.
