ANGELS ACQUIRE RHP KYLE ROBINSON FROM PITTSBURGH
ANAHEIM – The Angels today acquired minor league RHP Kyle Robinson from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for RHP Kirby Yates.
Robinson, 23, joins the Angels after seeing action with the A’s and Pirates organizations in 2026. The right hander began the year with the A’s where he appeared in six games with High-A Lansing before being acquired by the Pirates on May 16th. He made one appearance with Single-A Bradenton before being promoted to High-A Greensboro and eventually Double-A Altoona. In total, Robinson has played in 19 minor league games this season (18 starts), fashioning a 5-2 record with a 4.55 ERA (83 IP – 42 ER).
Over the course of three professional seasons, Robinson is 11-14 with a 4.65 ERA (211 IP – 109 ER) in 47 games (40 starts). The native of Amory, MS was originally selected by the Athletics in the 11th round of the 2024 First Year Player Draft out of Texas Tech University.
Yates, 39, has appeared in 31 games for the Angels this season, going 0-5 with three saves, a 3.95 ERA (27.1 IP – 12 ER) and 36 strikeouts. The Lihue, HI native is in his 12th Major League season and signed with the Angels as a free agent on Jan. 6, 2026.
