ANGELS MAKE FOUR SELECTIONS ON FIRST DAY OF 2026 MLB FIRST-YEAR PLAYER DRAFT

ANAHEIM – The Angels made four selections today during the first day of the 2026 First-Year Player Draft. Today’s picks consisted of one high school player and three college players.

In the first round, the Angels selected OF Jared Grindlinger with the 12th overall selection. Grindlinger batted .376 (41/109) with 26 runs, 10 doubles, two triples, two home runs, 22 RBI, and a 1.000 OPS for Huntington Beach HS in 2026.

The Angels second round selection was 2B Jarren Advincula from Georgia Tech. Advincula led Division I with a .434 batting average (min. 250 PA) and 111 hits. Advincula was named a First-Team All-American by ABCA/Rawlings, Baseball America, NCBWA, Perfect Game, and the College Baseball Foundation.

In the third round, the Angels selected 3B Gavin Grahovac from Texas A&M. Grahovac batted .339 with 76 runs scored, 16 doubles, three triples, 22 home runs, 74 RBI, five stolen bases, and a 1.150 OPS in 57 games for Texas A&M in 2026. He was named to the 2026 First Team All-SEC and to the All-SEC Defensive Team, and was tabbed as a Third Team All-American by NCBWA.

The Halos rounded out the first day by selecting OF Rylan Lujo from the University of Georgia with their fourth round pick. Lujo earned All-SEC honors after batting .357 with 59 runs scored, 16 doubles, one triple, 14 doubles, 49 RBI, 13 stolen bases, and a 1.056 OPS in 60 games for the Bulldogs in 2026. Lujo is the grandson of Rennie Stennett, an 11-year Major League veteran with the Pittsburgh Pirates (1971-1979) and San Francisco Giants (1980-1981), and a World Series Champion with Pittsburgh.

The Angels will make 16 selections tomorrow in rounds 5-20 to conclude the Draft. The fifth round is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. PT tomorrow morning. Below is a list of the Angels 2026 Draft picks through Day 1:
