ANGELS SIGN LHP BRENT SUTER
ANAHEIM – The Angels today agreed to a one-year, $1.25 million contract with LHP Brent Suter. In a corresponding 40-man roster move, RHP Kaleb Ort was designated for assignment.
Suter, 36, has a 42-24 record and 3.57 ERA (597.1 IP – 237 ER) with 496 strikeouts in 348 career games (47 starts). In 2025 with Cincinnati, he went 1-2 with a 4.52 ERA (67.2 IP - 34 ER) and 53 strikeouts in 48 games (three starts). He posted a 3.15 ERA (45.2 IP – 16 ER) in 30 outings in the first half, and held opponents scoreless in 30 of 48 appearances on the year. Last season, opponents averaged an 85.8 MPH exit velocity against Suter, ranking in the 99th percentile in the Majors.
A native of Chicago, IL, Suter led all Major League relief pitchers in 2021 with a career-high 12 wins, the second-most by a relief pitcher in Brewers history. Suter was also named the National League Reliever of the Month for September 2019, after going 4-0 with a 0.49 ERA (18.1 IP – 1 ER) and 15 strikeouts in nine appearances.
Suter was originally selected in the 31st round of the 2012 Draft by Milwaukee from Harvard University, and he made his Major League debut for the Brewers on August 19, 2016. Across 10 career Major League seasons, Suter has pitched for the Brewers (2016-2022), Rockies (2023), and Reds (2024-2025). He has also been named a Roberto Clemente Award nominee five times in his career, for three consecutive seasons with the Brewers (2020-2022) and in two seasons with the Reds (2024-2025).
