Atlanta Braves will donate $100,000 to tornado relief efforts in southwest Georgia and east Alabama
The Atlanta Braves will donate $100,000 to tornado relief efforts to help those affected in Southeast Georgia and East Alabama last weekend. The team has also launched an online auction at www.braves.com/relief with all proceeds benefiting the American Red Cross in their tornado relief efforts. The auction is live now and will end at 7 p.m. ET on Wednesday, March 27.
“We were heartbroken to see the devastation caused by the tornado on Sunday and want to help the relief efforts for Southeast Georgia and East Alabama,” said Derek Schiller, Atlanta Braves President and CEO. “We encourage our fans to donate to the Red Cross to help our neighbors in Braves Country in the recovery process. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with those who are affected.”
Items in the auction include:
- First Pitch, Honorary Team Captain, and Play Ball opportunities for the Braves exhibition games vs. the Cincinnati Reds on March 25 and March 26
- Autograph items from Braves players, including Ronald Acuña, Ozzie Albies, Charlie Culberson, John Camargo, Adam Duvall, Tyler Flowers, Freddie Freeman, Ender Inciarte, Nick Markakis, Brian McCann, and Austin Riley
- Tom Glavine donated a pitching rubber that is signed by him as well as Greg Maddux and John Smoltz. His son, Peyton, is a sophomore pitcher on the Auburn Tigers baseball team.
- Tim Hudson, who resides in Auburn, Ala., also donated several items to the auction through the Hudson Family Foundation.
