D-backs announce 2020 Spring Training schedule

PHOENIX - The Arizona Diamondbacks announced their 32-game Spring Training schedule, which features 16 home games and one road game at the award-winning Salt River Fields at Talking Stick. This season will mark the 10th season at the shared Spring Training facility with the Colorado Rockies, on Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community land near Scottsdale.

The D-backs officially open their 23rd Spring Training on Feb. 22 with a road game against the Colorado Rockies at Salt River Fields and will host the Oakland Athletics for the first D-backs home game on Feb. 23. The D-backs have 10 games against their National League West rivals and home games vs. the Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Angels, among others.

As part of the annual Collegiate Baseball Series, the D-backs will host a night exhibition game on March 17 against Grand Canyon University, led by former D-backs infielder Andy Stankiewicz (1998). Salt River Fields at Talking Stick will also host the second annual “MLB4” tournament on Feb. 14-16, a showcase event featuring some of the best programs in the nation to celebrate the traditional opening weekend of the college baseball season. The teams playing in the event include the College World Series Champion Vanderbilt University Commodores (Vanderbilt), 2019 NCAA Runner-Up University of Michigan Wolverines (Michigan), University of Connecticut Huskies (UConn) and California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly SLO).

Individual tickets for all games at Salt River Fields will go on sale to the public Jan. 11, 2020. Season-ticket plans for all Spring Training games at Salt River Fields featuring the D-backs and Rockies will go on sale to the public beginning Dec. 17. Salt River Fields at Talking Stick is the first Spring Training facility to receive a gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Program. The award-winning facility has had 155 sellouts since 2011 and the D-backs and Rockies has drawn more than 300,000 fans at Salt River Fields eight times, the only MLB complex to ever accomplish the feat. The complex has received more than 40 accolades and honors from national and local publications and among the recent awards given to Salt River Fields at Talking Stick are “Best Cactus League Spring Training Complex” by Ballpark Digest for back-to-back years, “Best Spring Training Facility” by Arizona Foothills magazine for the fifth consecutive year and “#1 Spring Training Facility” by Concierges magazine.

Salt River Fields is the first Spring Training facility built on Native American land. Owned by the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, the 140-acre site near the Pima-Loop 101 Freeway and Talking Stick Way consists of separate training facilities and clubhouses accommodating each team as well as an 11,000-seat ballpark featuring a uniquely designed roof structure offering fans in the cross aisle plenty of shade. With a heritage of hospitality, the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community has been home to the Akimel O'Odham (Pima) and Xalychidom Piipaash (Maricopa) people for more than 4,000 years.
