D-backs Hire J.R. House As Third Base And Catching Coach
The Arizona Diamondbacks have hired J.R. House as third base and catching coach.
- Rejoins the D-backs after he spent the previous 7 seasons (2019-25) as the Reds’ third base and catching coach.
- Previously spent 7 seasons with D-backs’ Player Development as hitting coach with Rookie-Advanced Missoula (2012) and Short-Season Hillsboro (2013), manager with Hillsboro (2014), Single-A Advanced Visalia (2015-16) and Double-A Jackson (2017), and Minor league field coordinator (2018).
- Over the past 3 seasons (2023-25) among NL teams, Reds’ catchers posted the second-fewest catching errors (23), behind only the D-backs (20), and combined for the fourth-highest caught-stealing pct. (23.2), behind the Phillies (24.2), Cubs (24.0) and Giants (23.5).
- 2015 California League Manager of the Year with Visalia.
- As Minor League manager, produced a career winning percentage of .573 (284-212).
- The former catcher played parts of 5 seasons with the Pirates (2003-04), Astros (2006, ‘08) and Orioles (2007).
- Resides in Phoenix, Arizona.
