Detroit Tigers statement on the passing of Jim Bunning
DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers club statement on the passing of Jim Bunning:
"The Detroit Tigers were saddened to learn of the passing of Baseball Hall of Famer Jim Bunning. Jim wore the Olde English D for nine seasons, earning All-Star honors five times and throwing a no-hitter on July 20, 1958 at Boston. Not only did Jim have an outstanding career on the baseball field, he also served his country, representing the state of Kentucky in the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. The Tigers organization extends our deepest sympathies to the Bunning family."
