Dodgers Recall Kyle Hurt, Wyatt Mills
LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled right-handed pitchers Kyle Hurt and Wyatt Mills, placed right-handed pitcher Will Klein on the injured list with right elbow discomfort and designated left-handed pitcher Cole Irvin for assignment.
Mills, 31, rejoins the Dodgers for his third stint with the squad. He is 0-0 with a 6.23 ERA in five games with the team this year. With Triple-A Oklahoma City, he is 4-4 with a 2.41 ERA in 33 games. He has been in the Major Leagues parts of three seasons with the Seattle Mariners (2021-22), Kansas City Royals (2022) and Dodgers, participating in 43 games, posting an 0-1 mark with a 6.22 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 46.1 innings. He was a third-round pick by the Mariners in the 2017 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Gonzaga.
Hurt, 28, last appeared in a game with the Dodgers in Game 2 of the doubleheader against the Yankees on July 19 (2.0 innings, 0 ER). He has been with the Dodgers three seasons, compiling a 3.86 ERA with 45 strikeouts in 42.0 innings and a 3-2 mark. The Southern California native was originally drafted by the Marlins in the fifth round of the 2020 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Southern California.
Klein, 26, allowed three runs (one earned) over 1.1 innings last night. He has appeared in 36 games (three starts) with a 3-4 record and a 3.67 ERA. He is in his second season with the Dodgers and he is 4-5 with a 3.32 ERA in 50 games. He began his career with the Kansas City Royals in 2024, going 1-0 with a 6.35 ERA in five games. He has appeared in 58 career games with the Royals, A’s (2024) and Dodgers with a 5-5 record and a 4.20 ERA.
Irvin, 32, tossed 6.0 innings last night, allowing six runs on eight hits with five strikeouts. He has been in the Majors parts of seven seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies (2019-20), Athletics (2021-22), Baltimore Orioles (2023-24), Minnesota Twins (2024) and Dodgers, going 28-41 with a 4.58 ERA in 135 games (93 starts). He signed a minor league contract with the Dodgers on February 4 and was originally drafted by the Phillies in the fifth round of the 2016 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Oregon.
