Duce Gourson Named Pirates Organization's Omar Moreno Baserunner Of The Year
The Pittsburgh Pirates today named Duce Gourson the organization’s Omar Moreno Baserunner of the Year. The announcement was made by Director of Coaching and Player Development Michael Chernow.
The 23-year-old Gourson hit a combined .275 (92-for-335) with 21 doubles, two triples, 10 home runs, 38 RBI, 31 stolen bases and 56 runs scored between High-A Greensboro and Double-A Altoona in 2025 (his 31 stolen bases were the seventh-most among all Pirates minor leaguers).
Gourson was selected by Pittsburgh in the ninth round of the 2024 First-Year Player Draft out of UCLA, where he was named an All-Pac-12 honorable mention and a Baseball America pre-season third-team All-American during his junior year.
Since making his pro debut in 2024, Gourson has been successful in 89.7 percent of his stolen base attempts while hitting .262 (107-for-409) with 26 doubles, two triples, 10 home runs, 46 RBI, 35 stolen bases and 69 runs scored in 117 games.
