Final results for Texas Rangers representatives at All-Star Week youth activities

The 2019 MLB Pitch Hit & Run National Finals were held today, Saturday, July 6, at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio, and a Rangers representative walked away with first place.

Abilene, Texas, native Aurora Cobb took first in the 7/8 Softball Division. Cobb participated in the Team Championship round held at Globe Life Park in Arlington on June 8 to advance to the National Finals representing the Rangers.

In the second annual Commissioner’s Cup and Jennie Finch Classic All-Star Youth Tournaments, the Texas Rangers MLB Youth Academy teams both wrapped up play today.

The Texas Rangers Academy softball team in the Jennie Finch Classic went 2-2 on the weekend. Ximena Zamarron (2022, Hillcrest High School) turned in a series of highlight defensive plays, while Melanie Henderson (2020, Irving High School) led the offense.

On the baseball side, the Texas Rangers Academy team in the Commissioner’s Cup earned its lone win of the weekend in their second game Saturday, defeating Cleveland 3-2 behind a complete game effort by RHP Julian Olivo (2020, Pinkston High School). Matthew DeLeon’s (2021, Skyline High School) defense was on display, as he laid out for a diving catch and made plays in both the infield and outfield.
