KC MLB Urban Youth Academy to host Swing Into Spring event

The Kansas City MLB Urban Youth Academy will celebrate its first birthday with a new community event, Swing Into Spring, on Saturday, March 30th from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The inaugural Swing Into Spring event will feature free activities for kids and families, as well as games on each field.

“Swing Into Spring is the perfect kick off to baseball and softball season as well as a celebration of the accomplishments and impact made in our first year,” said Darwin Pennye, Kansas City MLB Urban Youth Academy Executive Director. “We are incredibly proud of the programs we have built and the youth we have served since we cut the ribbon on our amazing facility last March. We look forward to building on that success to have an even greater impact this year.”

Swing Into Spring will feature games played by KCMO RBI, Kansas RBI, KCPS and KCKPS baseball teams, and a Sandlot League softball scrimmage. Event sponsors Pepsi and The University of Kansas Health System will also be present for the event with engaging experiences for attendees. The day will also include baseball and softball instructional clinics, Royals Alumni appearances and free family fun activities, including face painters, balloon twisters and more!
