Kelli Pedroia to host "Operation Shower" at Fenway Park Wednesday
Kelli Pedroia, wife of Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia, will host 25 Boston-area military moms-to-be at Fenway Park on Wednesday, June 27, in partnership with Operation Shower, an organization that provides baby showers for the partners and spouses of deployed or seriously injured members of the military, or active duty women who are expecting.
The event, supported by the Red Sox Foundation, Aramark, and Jordan's Furniture, will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Dell EMC Club at Fenway Park. It is the third year Pedroia has partnered with Operation Shower to organize the special luncheon for wives of military members.
"We are happy to once again partner with Operation Shower to show our love and appreciation to these courageous military moms-to-be," said Kelli Pedroia. "We are delighted to be able to bring them a day of joy and special moments that they will always remember, and to bring them together with other moms and moms-to-be to share their stories."
Local radio personality, and daughter of a veteran, Sue Brady Hartigan will emcee the luncheon provided by Red Sox concessionaire Aramark. The event will feature raffle prizes and the distribution of Operation Shower's signature "Showers in a Box," which includes baby items generously donated by the Red Sox Wives, Jordan's Furniture, New Balance, Wubbanub and other companies.
Since 2014, the Pedroias have focused their charitable efforts on members of the military and their families through their Pedroia Platoon program, which provides Red Sox tickets and a VIP experience at Fenway Park to military members who have demonstrated outstanding leadership. Their efforts were expanded in 2015 to include an annual Heroes at Home initiative that provides a complimentary day of pampering to 15 service women and spouses of military service members each year.
