Los Angeles Dodgers and Nuna Partner with Pasadena-Based Nonprofit 4th Trimester to Spotlight the Importance of Postpartum Care This Mother’s Day
LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers, Nuna and nonprofit 4th Trimester, a Pasadena-based nonprofit dedicated to transforming the postpartum experience into a time of nurturing care and community support, are celebrating Mother’s Day this year with a new, meaningful partnership, bringing greater visibility, resources, and compassion to mothers and families across the LA region.
The collaboration included two powerful moments of impact in May: support for 4th Trimester’s Care Closet event on May 6 supported by Dodgers Wives and Girlfriends, and a special in-game recognition at UNIQLO Field at Dodger Stadium on Mother’s Day, May 10, honoring the organization’s work and the families it serves.
At the May 6 Care Closet, spouses and partners of Dodgers players joined 4th Trimester volunteers to support expecting and postpartum mothers by distributing essential supplies and fostering meaningful connection. Held monthly, the Care Closet offers diapers, formula, baby gear, postpartum recovery items, and hygiene products, while also creating a welcoming space for mothers to gather, share experiences, and build community during a critical and often isolating time. Nuna, a leader in practical, high-performance baby gear, partnered with the Dodgers to provide strollers, car seats, travel cribs, and high chairs, which were distributed free of charge at the event.
“This Mother’s Day, we’re proud to partner with Nuna to support 4th Trimester and acknowledge the importance of postpartum care in our community,” said Kristin McCowan, Vice President of Community Relations and Government Affairs, Los Angeles Dodgers. “We recognize how vital it is for mothers to feel seen and supported during what can be a beautiful but at times isolating journey. By hosting the Care Closet and providing additional funding in support of 4th Trimester’s work, we’re helping ensure local mothers get the assistance they need when they need it most.
“This partnership reflects what postpartum care should look like: centering compassion, care and the power of community” said Rachel Scandling, executive director of 4th Trimester. “When organizations like the Dodgers support expectant and postpartum mothers, it sends a powerful message and reminder that every mother deserves sustained care and support during the critical months following birth.”
The momentum continued on Mother’s Day at UNIQLO Field at Dodger Stadium, where 4th Trimester was recognized on the field during the May 10 home game. The in-game tribute highlighted 4th Trimester’s impact including its efforts to provide essential supplies, mental health services, doula support, and direct financial assistance to families navigating the postpartum period.
The Dodgers also honored one of 4th Trimester’s program participants, Kathy Perez, who attended the game with her family. Perez’s family lost their home in the Eaton Canyon fire in January 2025 just as she learned she was pregnant. Through 4th Trimester’s Wildfire Relief Program, which has supported more than 250 families and distributed nearly $200,000 in emergency cash assistance, her family received critical support during a time of profound uncertainty.
“Standing alongside families like Kathy’s reminds us why this work matters so deeply,” said Marisa Callahan, board chair for 4th Trimester. “We are building a future where no mother has to navigate postpartum alone and partnerships like this help us extend that vision to more families.”
Together, these events underscored the importance of community-centered postpartum care and the role that civic and cultural institutions can play in supporting mothers and advancing maternal health and wellbeing.
