Mariners Activate RHP Gerson Bautista From 60-day IL

SEATTLE, Wash. -- Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today the following roster moves:

With today’s roster moves, the Mariners Major League, 40-man roster, is now at 39 players.

Bautista, 24, was placed on the 10-day injured list on March 18, retroactive to March 17, with a right pectoralis strain. He was transferred to the 60-day IL on May 27. Bautista appeared on rehabilitation assignment with High-A Modesto (0-0, 4.50 in 3 games / 2 ER, 4.0 IP) and AAA Tacoma (0-0, with 1 save and a 2.57 ERA in 5 games / 2 ER, 7.0 IP).

The Mariners acquired Bautista (along with Jay Bruce, Anthony Swarzak, Jarred Kelenic and Justin Dunn) from the Mets on Dec. 3, 2018. He made his MLB debut in 2018 with New York (NL) in 2018, appearing in 5 games, and posting an 0-1 mark with a 12.46 ERA (6 ER, 4.1 IP). In parts of six minor league seasons in the Boston, New York-NL and Seattle minor league systems, he is a combined 13-12 mark with 19 saves and a 3.11 ERA (93 ER, 269.0 IP). He has struck out 8.9 batters per 9.0 Innings pitched in his minor league career (266 SO, 269.0 IP).

** Moore**, 25, started but had no decision in last night’s game versus the Houston Astros after being recalled earlier in the day on June 4. He allowed 4 earned runs in 4.2 innings pitched. Moore was claimed off waivers by the Mariners on May 17 after he was designated for assignment by San Francisco on May 11. After joining the Mariners, he was assigned to AA Arkansas, where he posted a 3.09 ERA (4 ER, 11.2 IP) with 14 strikeouts and 0 walks in 2 starts. He made 1 start with AA Richmond (5/8 vs. Trenton) in the Giants organization after being claimed off waivers from Tampa Bay on May 5. He was designated for assignment by the Rays on April 29. Prior to being designated by Tampa Bay, he made 5 appearances (4 starts) with Triple-A Durham.

Moore, a 2nd round (72nd overall) pick by the Mariners in the 2015 MLB Draft, split the 2018 season with Double-A Arkansas (SEA) and Triple-A Durham (TB). He was acquired by the Rays from the Mariners along with Tommy Romero (rhp) in exchange for Denard Span (of) and Alex Colomé (rhp) on May 25, 2018. In 26 games (24) starts between Arkansas and Durham in 2018, he was 9-8 with a 3.85 ERA (57 ER, 133.1 IP) with 100 strikeouts and 43 walks.

Moore made his Major League debut with the Mariners on June 22, 2017 vs. Detroit, making the start and earning the win while allowing 3 runs over 7.0 innings. He went on to make 11 appearances (9 starts) with the Mariners in 2017. In 2016, he was named the Jamie Moyer Minor League Pitcher of the Year by the Mariners after combining for a record of 12-4 with a 2.65 ERA (48 ER, 163.0 IP) with 133 strikeouts and 31 walks in 28 starts between Advanced-A Bakersfield and Double-A Jackson. In 5 minor league seasons with Seattle (2015-18, 2019-c), Tampa Bay (2018-19) and San Francisco (2019), he is 26-22 with a 3.50 ERA (185 ER, 475.2 IP) with 401 strikeouts and 109 walks in 97 games (86 starts).
