Mariners Announce 2026 Minor League Awards

SEATTLE – Seattle Mariners Director of Player Development Justin Toole announced today the following Mariners Minor League Award winners for the 2026 season:

Montes (lah-sah-ro mone-tess), 21, earns his 3rd-consecutive Ken Griffey Jr. Hitter of the Year Award after batting .249 (113x453) with 99 runs, 24 doubles, 1 triple, 28 home runs and 96 RBI while reaching base at a .369 clip and slugging .558 for a .927 OPS over 123 combined games between Double-A Arkansas (79 G) and Triple-A Tacoma (44 G) this season. Montes was added to the Mariners Major League Roster on Sept. 1 and made his Major League debut that same day, going 2-for-4 with a home run. In 20 Major League games with Seattle this season, he has posted a .760 OPS and batted .204 (10x49) with 7 runs, 1 double, 4 home runs, 10 RBI and 6 walks.

Montes’ 38 home runs in the minors ranked T-3rd among all minor league batters in 2026. Over his first 79 games of the season with Arkansas, he owned a .234 (65x278) batting average with 67 runs, 11 doubles, 1 triple, 25 home runs, 66 RBI and 54 walks for a .369 OBP and a .550 SLG. The 6-foot-6, 250-pound outfielder was promoted to Triple-A Tacoma on July 7, where he spent his final 44 minor league games of the season and hit .274 (48x175) with 32 runs, 13 doubles, 13 home runs, 30 RBI and 25 walks while posting a .369 OBP and a .571 SLG. At the time of his Triple-A promotion on July 7, he ranked 4th in home runs among minor leaguers and 2nd in RBI, 7th in runs and T-5th in walks among Double-A batters. At the Triple-A Level, Montes’ .571 slugging percentage with Tacoma ranked 9th-best after July 7 (min. 150 AB) while his .940 OPS ranked 10th.

The lefty batter was named Texas League Player of the Month in June after tying for a minor league best 12 home runs during the month and earning Texas League Player of the Week honors on June 7. Over the 2026 season, Montes recorded 4 multi-homer performances, including a 3-homer night, with two of those occasions in June. He also recorded 10 games with multiple extra-base hits.

The Havana, Cuba native was originally signed by the Mariners as an International Free Agent on January 15, 2022. He has appeared in parts of 5 minor league seasons in the Mariners organization, making appearances at right field (418 G), left field (4 G) and designated hitter (8 G) over 497 career MiLB games before his Major League debut on Sept. 1. He is currently ranked as the No. 55 overall prospect in baseball by MLB Pipeline and the No. 57 prospect by Baseball America. He is ranked as the No. 5 and No. 3 prospect in the Mariners organization by each publication, respectively.

Gomez, 17, hit .368 (60x163) with 49 runs, 9 doubles, 1 triple, 6 home runs, 46 RBI and 17 stolen bases while posting a .467 on-base percentage and slugging .546 over 48 games with the DSL Mariners in his first professional season.

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound outfielder finished the season with the 6th-highest batting average among DSL players while leading the DSL Mariners in runs scored, RBI and home runs. His 46 RBI also ranked T-14th most in the DSL. Over 3 games played during his first career playoff series, Gomez led the team with a .462 (6x13) average and a .846 slugging percentage, tallying 3 runs, 1 triple, 1 home run, 3 RBI and 1 walk in the during the span.

The San Isidro, Dominican Republic native hit safely in 40 of his 51 games played while reaching base safely in 47 games. He recorded a 30 game on-base streak from June 22 to Aug. 13, during which he strung together a team-best 13-consecutive games hitting streak, also tying for the 11th-longest hit streak in the DSL in 2026.

Gomez is currently the Mariners 29th ranked prospect per MLB Pipeline, signed a minor league contract with Seattle during the international signing period on January 15, 2026. The 17-year-old made his professional debut only months later on August 17 with the DSL Mariners.

Anderson, 22, went 10-1 with a 1.06 ERA (11 ER, 93.1 IP), 135 strikeouts, 13 walks and a 0.64 WHIP while limiting batters to a .147 average over 18 starts with Double-A Arkansas in his first professional season. The Mariners top prospect was called up to the Major League roster on Aug. 22 and made his MLB debut that same day, tossing 5.2 innings against the Chicago Cubs.

The 6-foot-2, 179-pound left-hander was named to the Texas League All-Star team and earned recognition as Texas League Pitcher of the Year after leading the minor leagues (min. 80.0 IP) in ERA, WHIP, strikeout-to-walk rate, walks-per-9 innings and opponent batting average in 2026 while tying for the 5th most strikeouts in the minors prior to his call up on Aug. 22. Anderson held his opponent scoreless in 13 of his 18 minor league starts, including each of his last 4 outings with Double-A Arkansas, during which he logged 20.2 consecutive scoreless innings. He allowed 1-or-fewer runs in 15 of the 18 starts and allowed more than 2 runs in only one game. On April 10 against the Wichita Wind Surge, he set a career high with 11 strikeouts in his first of 2 hitless performances of 5.0+ IP.

Anderson received Texas League Pitcher of the Week honors 5 times this season and was recognized as Texas League Pitcher of the Month for June after going 4-0 with a 0.79 ERA (2 ER, 22.2 IP), 0.62 WHIP, 32 strikeouts and 3 walks allowed in 4 starts. He was also named the Mariners Minor League Pitcher of the Month 3 times this season (April, May and June). Among his other accolades this season, the southpaw was selected to represent the Mariners at the 2026 All-Star Futures Game at Citizen’s Bank Park in Philadelphia along with his Arkansas Travelers teammate RHP Ryan Sloan.

The Louisiana State University product is ranked as the No.1 prospect in baseball by The Athletic. He is also ranked as the top pitching prospect and No. 5 overall by MLB Pipeline as well as the top pitching prospect and No. 6 overall by Baseball America.

Anderson was selected by the Mariners with the 3rd overall pick of the 2025 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Louisiana State University, the team’s highest draft selection since 2012. Anderson, the 2025 Baseball America National Player of the Year, made his professional debut on April 3 with Double-A Arkansas.

Pagliarini, 25, receives his first Alvin Davis “Mr. Mariner” award after batting .264 (131x496) with 95 runs, 29 doubles, 3 triples, 27 home runs, 91 RBI, 81 walks and 9 stolen bases while posting a .374 OBP and a .498 SLG over 130 games with Double-A Arkansas.

The left-handed hitter finished the season ranking in the top 10 among qualified Double-A stat leaders in several categories including runs (3rd), doubles (T-7th), home runs (T-9th), RBI (T-6th) and walks (T-8th), while he recorded the 11th most hits at the Double-A Level and owned the 12th best OBP and 9th best SLG among Texas League batters. He was 1-of-6 minor leaguers this season to reach 25+ home runs and 80+ walks. On Sept. 4, he recorded 3 doubles in his 4th multi-double game of the season to become 1-of-8 Double-A hitters to record 3+ doubles in a single game.

Pagliarini, who was named to the 2026 Texas League All-Star team, owned the longest on-base streak by an Arkansas batter this season at 20-consecutive games (April 30-May 23). The 6-foot, 210-pound infielder was named Texas League Player of the Week on August 30 after he batted .385 (8x26) with 7 extra-base hits, including 4 home runs, for a .962 slugging percentage. He was also recognized as the Mariners Minor League Hitter of the Month for May.

The Trumbull, Connecticut native was selected by the Mariners in the 19th round of the 2023 MLB First-Year Draft (577th overall) out of Fairfield University. He worked his way through the Mariners minor league system, spending all of 2025 with High-A Everett before being promoted to Double-A Arkansas for the start of the 2026 season.

Wisdom, 35, a nominee for the 2024 Roberto Clemente Award while with the Chicago Cubs, has sought ways to contribute to his community through all points in his career and has continued to do so during his time in the Mariners organization. He displayed his passion to serve the community while with Triple-A Tacoma, always being the first player to volunteer for team coordinated community service opportunities as well as seeking out endeavors of his own, including visiting Youth Baseball Leagues, Boys & Girls Clubs and the Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital.

His dedication to his charitable work stems back to his time with a 6-year-old fan who was undergoing cancer treatment at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., while he was with the Cardinals Triple-A affiliate in 2017. This commitment to spreading kindness and finding ways to make a difference has not wavered, no matter where he plays, as exemplified by his time spent at the City of Refuge food pantry in Baltimore while on a road trip with the Mariners as part of his involvement with Big League Impact’s Mission 3:18, which creates opportunities for players to give back even while on road trips. With the season ending, Wisdom continues to support this mission as a member of the Big League Impact’s Fantasy Football League, donating his winnings as the Week 1 top scorer to BLI’s Mission 3:18.

In 81 games played with Triple-A Tacoma this season, Wisdom batted .278 (85x306) with 62 runs, 15 doubles, 35 home runs and 78 RBI while reaching base at a .676 clip and slugging .676. He led Triple-A batters in home runs and slugging this season. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound infielder was signed to a minor league contract with the Mariners on January 20, 2026. He has appeared in parts of 8 Major League seasons with the Cardinals (2018), Rangers (2019) and Cubs (2020-24) and Mariners (2026), playing 19 games with Seattle this season.

Siani, batted .245 (52x212) with 36 runs, 6 doubles, 2 triples, 7 home runs, 26 RBI, 19 walks and 17 stolen bases while reaching base at a .302 clip over 69 games with Double-A Arkansas this season.

The left-handed hitter reached base safely in each of his last 15 games from Aug. 23 to Sept. 13, while stringing together an 11-game hitting streak from Sept. 1 to Sept. 13, tied for the 2nd longest hit streak by an Arkansas batter this season. Over his 15-game on-base streak, Siani batted .421 (24x57) with 13 runs, 3 doubles, 5 homers, 16 RBI, a .433 OBP and a .737 SLG. After Aug.15, he ranked T-6th in the Texas League in batting average (.389) and ranked 2nd on the team in OBP (.408) and RBI (17), and T-3rd in runs (14) while recording the lowest strikeouts per plate appearance (.158).

The Glenside, Pennsylvania native signed a minor league contract with the Mariners on December 23, 2025 and began his 2026 season with the Arkansas Travelers. Siani was originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the MLB First-year Player Draft and played in 6 seasons with the organization (2019, 2021-25).

Steensma, 22, posted a 4.57 ERA (22 ER, 43.1 IP) with 61 strikeouts, 10 walks and a 1.06 WHIP while limiting batters to a .221 average over 15 games (12 starts) with Class-A Inland Empire in his first professional season.

The right-handed pitcher finished the season with a 6.10 strikeout-to-walk ratio, ranking 14th-best in the minor leagues (min 40.0 IP). Among California League pitching leaders, Steensma ranked 12th in K/9 (12.67), 8th in BB/9 (2.08), 7th in WHIP and 16th in opponent batting average. Of Class-A pitchers with pitchers with a K/9 greater than 12.00, he is 1-of-6 with a sub-1.10 WHIP and the only pitcher with a sub-2.10 BB/9. In all but 1 of his 15 appearances, the 6-foot-4, 244-pound pitcher allowed 1-or-fewer walks, including 7 games with no walks. He also tossed 6 games with 5+ strikeouts and allowed only 2 walks across those 6 outings.

Steensma is ranked as the Mariners 22nd overall prospect per MLB Pipeline and the 25th overall prospect per Baseball America. He was drafted by Seattle in the 9th round of the 2025 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Appalachian State University and made his professional debut on April 4 with Class-A Inland Empire.

Matias, in his 2nd season as manager for the DSL Mariners, led the team to the first round of DSL playoffs. The DSL Mariners was comprised of players ranging from 17 to 23-years-old with an average age of 19, who each embodied the Mariners core philosophy of dominating zone this season under Matias. The DSL batters combined for 411 walks this season, the 2nd most among all Rookie League teams, and lead the DSL in walks per plate appearance (.196), pitches per plate appearance (4.017) and combined for the 4th-highest OBP (.426). The pitching staff allowed the 11th fewest walks (279) for the 12th-lowest BB/9 (5.99), a 1.30 K/BB and a .377 opponent on-base percentage. They were 1-of-8 DSL teams with 4+ shutouts this season.

Matias has served in a variety of different roles within the Mariners organization since joining as a video coordinator in 2015, serving as Coordinator, Dominican Republic Operations in 2024 prior to being named the DSL Mariners manager in 2025. The former infielder also appeared in four seasons (2009–12) as a player in the Mariners system, appearing in 183 career games all with the DSL Mariners.
