Mariners Catcher Cal Raleigh Named American League Player of the Week
BOSTON – Major League Baseball today named catcher Cal Raleigh the American League Player of the Week for the week of August 24-30. It marks the 3rd Player of the Week honor of Raleigh’s career, after earning a pair of the awards during June 2025. Raleigh joins Logan Gilbert (June 20) as Mariners to earn Player of the Week honors in 2026.
Raleigh, 29, hit .389 (7x18) with 1 double, 5 home runs, 6 RBI, 5 walks, a .522 OBP and slugged 1.278 for an 1.800 OPS during the week. He recorded the first 3-homer game of his career on August 24 against the Phillies and tied an MLB record homering in 4 consecutive at-bats spanning from August 24-25. He became the 13th Mariners player to record a 3-homer game, and just the 2nd player to hit 3 home runs in a game at T-Mobile Park.
Raleigh led MLB during the week in fWAR (0.8, tied with Daylen Lile-WSH), home runs (tied with Pete Crow-Armstrong-CHC), slugging, wRC+ (369) and OPS, while ranking 7th in OBP.
Raleigh has appeared in 6 Major League seasons with Seattle (2021-c), batting .218 (551x2,527) with 347 runs, 104 doubles, 2 triples, 172 home runs, 429 RBI and 23 stolen bases, getting on base at a .310 clip and slugging .465 for an .775 OPS in 726 career games. During the 2025 season, he belted 60 home runs en route to finishing 2nd in American League MVP voting. Raleigh was originally selected in the 3rd round of the 2018 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Florida State University.
