Mariners claim RHP Mike Morin off waivers from Kansas City

Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today that the Mariners have claimed right-handed pitcher Mike Morin off waivers from Kansas City.
Seattle's Major League 40-man roster is now at 37 players. 
Morin, 26, was 0-0 with a 7.20 ERA (16 ER, 20.0 IP) with 16 strikeouts in 16 combined games with Los Angeles-AL and Kansas City in 2017. With AAA Salt Lake in the Angels organization, he was 0-1 with 1 save and a 3.20 ERA (14 ER, 39.1 IP) with 25 strikeouts in 22 games, including 1 start. He was claimed off waivers by the Royals on Sept. 12 after being designated for assignment on Sept. 5.
In parts of four Major League seasons with Los Angeles-AL (2014-17) and Kansas City (2017), he is 10-8 with a 4.61 ERA (87 ER, 170.0 IP) with 160 strikeouts. In six minor league seasons, he is 10-10 with 37 saves and a 3.38 ERA (68 ER, 181.1 IP) with 174 strikeouts in 138 games, including 2 starts. He was selected by Los Angeles-AL in the 13th round of the 2012 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
