Mariners option right-handed pitcher Jarrett Grube to AAA Tacoma

Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced that the club has optioned right-handed pitcher Jarrett Grube to AAA Tacoma (post-game 8/10).
 
A corresponding roster move will be announced prior to Friday's (7:05 pm PT) game at the Oakland Athletics.
 
Grube, 34, was recalled yesterday (Aug. 10), but did not appear in a game with Seattle. Grube 1-2 with a 3.97 ERA (20 ER, 45.1 IP) in 10 games (8 starts) with AAA Tacoma this season. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound right-hander struck out 46 while walking 12. Grube has recorded at least 3 strikeouts in each of his 10 appearances with the Rainiers. Grube signed with the Mariners as a minor league free agent on June 9. Prior to signing with Seattle, Grube was 0-3 with a 4.43 ERA (22 ER, 44.2 IP) with 37 strikeouts and 10 walks in 11 games, including 7 starts, with AAA Columbus (Cleveland) this season.
 
In 2015 with Columbus, Grube was 9-0 with 1 save with a 2.26 ERA (20 ER, 79.2 IP) with 68 strikeouts and 19 walks in 15 games (13 starts). Grube made his Major League debut - and his only ML appearance - on May 31, 2014 at Oakland with Los Angeles - AL. Grube was in the Mariners organization from 2010-12, compiling a record of 14-16 with 1 save and a 4.59 (150 ER, 294.0 IP) ERA in 61 games (45 starts) with AA West Tennessee (2010), AA Jackson (2011) and AAA Tacoma (2010-12). Grube was originally selected by Colorado in the 10th round of the 2004 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Memphis.
