Mariners Recall C Jhonny Pereda from Triple-A Tacoma; Reinstate LHP José A. Ferrer from Paternity List

HOUSTON – Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Justin Hollander announced today the following roster moves:

Pereda (per-AY-duh), 30, will appear in his second stint on the Mariners active roster. He was recalled by Seattle from Triple-A Tacoma on May 2 before being optioned on May 8. In a pair of games with the Mariners this year, he’s batting .400 (2x5) with a run scored. In 25 games with the Rainiers, Pereda is hitting .321 (27x84) with 15 runs, 2 home runs and 8 RBI, with an .831 OPS.

Pereda was acquired by the Mariners on Jan. 27, 2026 from the Minnesota Twins in exchange for cash considerations. He appeared in the big leagues with the Miami Marlins (2024), Athletics (2025) and Twins (2025) before making his Mariners debut this season.

Ferrer (fur-AIR), 26, was placed on the Paternity List three days ago, on May 11. In 21 relief appearances for Seattle this season, Ferrer has a 1.80 ERA (4 ER, 20.0 IP) with 2 saves, 16 strikeouts and 3 walks. The 6-foot-1 lefty was acquired in a trade with the Washington Nationals in exchange for catcher Harry Ford. In 2025, he went 4-4 with 11 saves and a 4.48 ERA (38 ER, 76.1 IP) with 71 strikeouts and 16 walks, allowing just 5 homers.

Raleigh, 29, exited last night’s game in the 9th inning prior to the Mariners taking the field defensively. This marks the first time Raleigh has been placed on the Injured List in his Major League career (2021-c).

In 41 games this season, Raleigh is batting .161 (26x161) with 16 runs, 4 doubles, 7 home runs, 18 RBI and 18 walks, with a .560 OPS in 181 plate appearances. The Mariners backstop hit .345 (10x29) and homered 5 times in a 7-game span from April 20-27, a few days before he was sidelined for 3 consecutive games from May 2-4 with soreness on his right side.

Raleigh is coming off one of the best seasons by a catcher in Major League history, and one of the best power-hitting seasons by any player in the history of the sport, reaching 60 home runs and recording 125 RBI for the AL West champion Mariners in 2025. Raleigh started the All-Star Game, became the first catcher to win the Home Run Derby, won the Silver Slugger Award, and finished 2nd in AL MVP voting to Aaron Judge-NYY. Raleigh set single-season records for most home runs by a Mariners player, by a switch-hitter, and by a catcher.

Cal made his Major League debut with the Mariners on July 11, 2021. In 6 seasons (2021-c), he is batting .222 (515x2325) with 329 runs, 99 doubles, 2 triples, 160 home runs, 394 RBI and 284 walks, getting on base at a .309 clip, slugging .472 with a .781 OPS and 123 OPS+. On March 26, 2025, the Mariners and Raleigh agreed to a 6-year contract extension through 2030, with a vesting player option for 2031.

Simpson, 28, has made 3 appearances out of the Mariners bullpen this season, posting a 7.71 ERA (2 ER, 2.1 IP) with 3 strikeouts and 1 walk. The left-hander pitched for the Miami Marlins in 2025 and was acquired by Seattle from Miami in exchange for cash considerations on Feb. 16, 2026.
