Mariners Recall RHP Troy Taylor from Triple-A Tacoma
SEATTLE – Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Justin Hollander announced today the following roster moves:
- Troy Taylor, RHP, recalled from Triple-A Tacoma.
- Hoby Milner, LHP, placed on the Family Medical Emergency List.
Taylor, 24, has made 50 appearances with Triple-A Tacoma this season, going 1-2 with 5 saves, a 4.99 ERA (29 ER, 52.1 IP), 35 walks and 60 strikeouts.
Taylor has appeared in parts of 2 Major League seasons with the Mariners (2024-25), going 0-0 with 1 save, a 5.88 ERA (17 ER, 26.0 IP), 10 walks and 27 strikeouts in 29 games.
He was selected by the Mariners in the 20th round of the 2021 MLB First-Year Player Draft, but did not sign and was again selected by the Mariners in the 12th round of the 2022 MLB First-Year Player Draft. He has pitched in 4 minor league seasons in the Mariners organization (2023-c), combining to go 8-11 with a 4.18 ERA (86 ER, 185.0 IP), 99 walks, 221 strikeouts, a 1.38 WHIP and 36 saves in 180 games. The 6-foot, 200-pound right-handed pitcher was born in Fontana, California.
Milner, 35, was selected from Triple-A Tacoma on September 1 and made 2 appearances with the Mariners. He also appeared in 38 Major League games this season with the Chicago Cubs, going 1-0 with a 3.53 (14 ER, 35.2 IP), 9 walks, 18 strikeouts and a 1.21 WHIP. Hoby (pronounced HO-bee) was designated for assignment on August 29 and released by the Cubs on August 30. He signed a minor league contract with the Mariners on August 31.
Milner has appeared in parts of 10 Major League seasons with the Phillies (2017-18), Rays (2018-19), Angels (2020), Brewers (2021-24), Rangers (2025), Cubs (2026) and Mariners (2026). He has appeared in 407 career games (1 start), going 14-9 with 2 saves, a 3.85 ERA (162 ER, 378.1 IP), 103 walks, 340 strikeouts and a 1.24 WHIP.
He was selected by the Washington Nationals in the 44th round of the 2009 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Robert L. Paschal High School (Fort Worth, TX), but did not sign. He was again selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 7th round of the 2012 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Texas (Austin, TX).
