Mariners Recall RHP Nick Davila from Triple-A Tacoma

TORONTO – Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Justin Hollander announced today the following roster moves:

Davila (DAH-vee-LAH), 27, has appeared in 23 games with the Mariners this season, going 0-0 with a 4.10 ERA (12 ER, 26.1 IP), 13 strikeouts and 1 save. Davila earned his first career save on June 9 at Baltimore.

In 16 appearances with Triple-A Tacoma and Double-A Arkansas this season, he owns a 2.33 ERA (5 ER, 19.1 IP) with 4 walks, 16 strikeouts, a 1.10 WHIP and 2 saves.

Davila was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Detroit Tigers on July 7, 2020. He signed a minor league contract with the Mariners on March 27, 2023. He has appeared in 6 minor league seasons in the Tigers (2021-22) and Mariners (2023-c) organizations, going a combined 18-30 with a 3.90 ERA (156 ER, 360.0 IP), 107 walks and 345 strikeouts in 130 games (42 starts).

The 6-foot-3 right-hander is a Hialeah, Florida native. He played one season at the University of South Florida after transferring from Hillsborough Community College (Tampa, FL).

Hancock, 27, has made 27 starts for the Mariners this season, going 7-8 with a 3.57 ERA (55 ER, 138.2 IP), 32 walks, 126 strikeouts and a 1.139 WHIP. He made his last start on Aug. 28 at Toronto, tossing 5.0 innings and allowing 5 runs (5 ER).

The 6-foot-4 righty has appeared in 62 career games (52 starts) with Seattle (2023-c), going a combined 15-17 with a 4.24 ERA (142 ER, 301.1 IP) with 85 walks, 235 strikeouts and a 1.258 WHIP.

The Cairo, Georgia native was selected by Seattle in the 1st round (6th overall) of the 2020 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Georgia. He made his MLB debut on Aug. 9, 2023 vs. San Diego, tossing 5.0 innings of one-run ball
