Mike Trout, Cody Bellinger named W.B. Mason Players of the Week
Two-time AL MVP Mike Trout of the Los Angeles Angels has been named the W.B. Mason American League Player of the Week, and 2017 NL Rookie of the Year Cody Bellinger of the Los Angeles Dodgers has been named the W.B. Mason National League Player of the Week. The announcements were made earlier today on MLB Network.
Trout claimed his fourth career AL Player of the Week Award, most recently winning for the period ending July 12, 2015. Bellinger earned his third career NL Player of the Week Award, winning a pair during his 2017 All-Star campaign (May 7th & June 25th).

- Posted a slash line of .438/.654/1.375 with five runs scored, seven hits, five home runs, nine RBI and eight walks across six games played.
- Finished the period first in RBI, on-base percentage, slugging percentage and total bases (22); tied for first in home runs and walks; second in batting average; and tied for second in extra-base hits (5) among AL leaders.
- Recorded his 15th career multi-homer game on Friday. Clubbed a round-tripper on Thursday as well, marking the 45th time in his career in which he homered in consecutive games.
- Belted a home run in his fourth consecutive game yesterday (see it here), matching his career-long streak from 2017 (May 12th-15th). Marked the first time in his career with five home runs in a four-game stretch.
- Became the fifth player in MLB history, and the first American Leaguer ever, to tally five homers in his Club’s first four home games of a season, joining Adrián González (2015), Chase Utley (2010), and Hall of Famers Lou Brock (1967) and Eddie Mathews (1958).

- Batted .417 (10-for-24) with 10 runs scored, two doubles, a triple, three home runs, 10 RBI and two walks over six games played.
- Among NL leaders, finished first in RBI; tied for first in runs scored and triples; second in total bases (23); tied for second in home runs; third in hits and slugging percentage (.958); and tied for third in extra-base hits (6).
- Enters play today in the midst of a 10-game hitting streak, having logged a hit in each game this season with six multi-hit efforts.
- Clubbed his Major League-leading seventh home run last night (see it here) to go along with a double and four runs scored, reaching base in all five plate appearances.
- Became the second player since RBI became an official statistic in 1920 to log at least seven home runs and 18 RBI in the first 10 games of a season, joining Hall of Famer Willie Mays (1964).

Diving stop up the middle by Carlos Correa of the Houston Astros

All-Star shortstop Carlos Correa claimed last week’s Play of the Week honors. With two outs in the first inning of Tuesday’s game against the Texas Rangers, Correa made a diving stop up the middle before throwing Nomar Mazara out at first and saving a run. Additional Play of the Week candidates included a pair of outfield assists from Ramón Laureano of the Oakland Athletics. Laureano threw out Xander Bogaerts of the Boston Red Sox at home on Monday night, and then threw him out again at third base on Tuesday night; outfielder Albert Almora Jr. of the Chicago Cubs made a leaping catch at the wall to save a run; rookie shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. made a spectacular catch on a pop up in shallow left field; and six-time Gold Glove Award winner Nolan Arenado of the Colorado Rockies fielded a bunt down the line and made an excellent barehanded play to throw out the runner at first.
