NEW YORK YANKEES, MONTEFIORE EINSTEIN, AICF AND FANS FOR THE CURE TO OFFER FREE PROSTATE CANCER SCREENING ON WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, AT YANKEE STADIUM
Free PSA blood tests available to guests attending Yankees–Rays game
The New York Yankees, Montefiore Einstein, the American-Italian Cancer Foundation (AICF), and Fans for the Cure will offer free prostate cancer screenings to guests attending the Yankees’ Wednesday, September 23, 7:05 p.m. game against the Tampa Bay Rays at Yankee Stadium.
Beginning when Yankee Stadium gates open at 5:30 p.m. and continuing through the early innings of the game, free PSA blood tests will be available on the 200 Level Concourse behind home plate — between the New Era Team Store and Section 223.
The screenings, in the form of PSA blood tests, are free and available on a walk-up basis, with no reservation required. Guests must have a valid ticket to the September 23 Yankees–Rays game to enter Yankee Stadium.
The screening will be led by Urology Department Chair Dr. Mark Schoenberg, Vice Chair Dr. Kara Watts and Assistant Director of Business and Administrative Affairs Crystal Santos, along with Urology team members and other departments across Montefiore Einstein, the official hospital of the New York Yankees.
Held annually in conjunction with a Yankees home game, the screening takes place during September in recognition of National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. Before gates open to the public, screening will be available to New York Yankees and Legends Global employees, gameday staff, Yankee Stadium Securitas officers and members of the NYPD.
“Too many men are being diagnosed later than necessary because they aren’t getting a simple blood test,” said Ed Randall, Founder + Chief Advocacy Officer of Fans for the Cure. “Together with our partners at Montefiore Einstein, the Yankees and AICF, we want to make early detection easier and more accessible for men.”
“Bringing prostate cancer screening directly into the community is central to what we do,” said Santos. “Through our continued collaboration with the New York Yankees, Fans for the Cure, and the AICF, we’re able to reach men who might not otherwise get screened and connect them with the follow-up care they need. We’re proud to keep growing this program each year.”
Fans for the Cure (fansforthecure.org) is participating in its 14th onsite prostate cancer screening with the New York Yankees. The nonprofit organization also works regularly with Montefiore Einstein and the American-Italian Cancer Foundation on community-based prostate cancer education, awareness and early detection initiatives.
